CCL OFFER NEW MESSAGING SOLUTION
FOR IBM'S RS6000.
In a bid to capture a major slice of the $10 billion
growth predicted by IBM for its RS6000 market. Computer Communications
Limited (CCL) has launched an Open Systems message routing system
which uniquely automates and integrates Fax, Telex, Email and
EDI traffic for network and LAN users of IBM's AIX operating system.
Called RELAY for AIX and developed by CCL in Leicester for the
RS6000 user, the solution has interfaces to Microsoft Exchange,
Lotus Notes, CC:Mail, Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Mail and
offers unified messaging support for business applications, Windows
3.1, 95 and NT clients. With over 300 users in 9 European countries
and clients who include BP Chemicals, Banca di Roma, British Gas,
GEC Marconi Avionics, JP Morgan Investments, Reuters, Barclays
etc...
Having developed a UNIX solution for the Compaq platform, we
see the 500,000 AIX users throughout the world as a tremendous
opportunity for the RELAY solution" according to Dennis Armstrong,
CCL's Sales Director. "Many users have picked the RS/6000
because of its strong communications capabilities" he added
"Like the RS6000, RELAY is scaleable in price from a small
processor with a low volume of faxes and messages to a large processor
with many users and high fax volumes and electronic messages".
"Our goal has been to create one universal UNIX messaging
solution that is capable of meeting all user requirements and
adding value. The investment that companies have made in their
existing technology that they have implemented without having
to purchase NT hardware and software to simply send and receive
messages."
RELAY for AIX provides automatic inbound routing to Email platforms
providing Message management, Message Status Confirmation, Archiving
and Audit Trails. Security includes Multiple Level Authorisation,
Pass Word protection and Called Unit Identity checking which ensures
correct delivery.
Company background
The RELAY range of messaging products was launched in 1982 and
since then over 300 major organisations have successfully installed
systems in Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and USA.
